All new Raider truck caps and tonneaus are delivered to and sold by authorized Raider Dealers. Our dealers have the experience, tools and materials to install and adjust your cap or tonneau properly. They can also provide warranty service should you ever need it. You'll be glad you've taken advantage of their expertise. 

Attaching a Raider truck cap or tonneau to your truck requires no drilling into your truck bed.  Specially designed and engineered clamps are used to fasten your cap or tonneau to the side rails of your pickup bed.  This attachment is completely adequate for the use to which truck caps and tonneaus are typically subjected.

When caps are installed, a thick closed-cell foam tape or tubular rubber gasket fits between your truck bed rails and the cap rails.  This material helps seal the gap, provides cushioning, and protects the truck bed rail.

Your Raider Dealer is an expert at installing caps and tonneaus, and has developed experience and success with his/her installation technique. We recommend you listen and follow their advice regarding the installation of your Raider cap or tonneau.

Though lightweight and flexible, Raider truck caps are remarkably strong, especially when properly installed. With the proper factory reinforcements, a Raider truck cap can support a factory-installed Yakima Track Mount or Fixed Mount rack (capacity 225 lbs evenly distributed).
Raider truck caps and tonneaus can easily support the weight of several inches of snow, too. Keep in mind, though, that weight must be distributed to avoid damaging or breaking the fiberglass shell.

Raider has a sophisticated design process that uses actual truck bodies for measurements and mold making.  All molds are prototyped to ensure precise fit. Once measurements are complete, the creation of a Raider mold is an art that includes scores of hours of sculpture and hand finishing. Prototypes are reviewed and critiqued by staff before production molds are created.  Production molds are also tested for fit, style and function before they are released for sale.

Once a mold is in production, dimensional accuracy is checked regularly, to ensure close, accurate, stylish fits.  Molds are inspected after every single use, and are refinished constantly, to keep surfaces and shapes in near-perfect condition.

A Raider truck cap or tonneau is the BEST PROTECTION you can give your truck bed and the cargo inside it.  No other bed cover or bed liner provides better protection or security.  Of course, due to the wide variety of conditions that your truck is subjected to, it is impossible to "guarantee" a waterproof environment under all situations.

The various windows used in Raider truck caps are installed in different ways, so the process of repairing broken glass varies.  The entire window assembly (glass and frame) are removed and replaced. Your Raider Dealer can provide repair service and is your source for parts for your Raider truck cap.

In addition, your truck lives in a world filled with dirt, dust, and other debris. Because of these factors, it is impossible to eliminate all chance of possible damage. Professional installation by an authorized Raider Dealer can help you protect both your truck and your Raider truck cap or tonneau.

All Raider truck caps and tonneaus are shipped to Raider Dealers in our own fleet of transport trucks. Our trucks have fully enclosed trailers and are fitted with special racks to protect your new truck cap or tonneau from damage from weather and road debris. Our drivers are particularly skilled at handling truck caps and tonneaus - they are delivery specialists who know you want your new cap or tonneau to arrive quickly and in good condition.

Delivery of your new cap or tonneau is a function of three factors - production schedule, production time, and shipping. Depending upon the flow of business, your unit will typically be added to our production schedule within 4 to 8 days. Once scheduled, actual production time of a unit is 2 to 3 days. Shipping adds from one to two weeks. That means most units are delivered to your Raider Dealer in three to four weeks.

Many Raider Dealers offer in-stock merchandise, keeping popular models and colors on hand for quick delivery.

While fiberglass provides the structure of our caps and tonneaus, smooth gelcoat actually underlies the glossy painted surface that you see on the outside, and is the first item sprayed into a prepared mold.

To better match the final color of the product, we use three different primer-style gelcoat colors - light grey, medium grey, and dark grey. By taking this step, the underlying gelcoat enhances the final application of gloss paint.

Truck caps vary in weight due to the wide range of sizes and options. Typical weights of full-size short-bed cab-high truck caps are in the 175 to 190 pound range. Smaller caps weigh a bit less, larger caps weigh a bit more.

Tonneaus also vary in weight by size. The typical full size short bed tonneau weighs approximately 95 pounds.

The structural material for Raider truck caps, like virtually all others in this product category, is chopped random-strand and hand-laid fiberglass. This material, familiar in many other products, combines thin, flexible glass fibers with resins, which, when dry, form a very durable, resilient structural material that can be sanded, painted, repaired, reinforced, and handled with relative ease.

In the Raider factory, the fiberglass, in the form of a bundle of continuous glass strands; and the resin, in its liquid form, are delivered to a hand-held gun that chops the glass, mixes it with resin, and sprays it into the open mold.

At Raider, we pay careful attention to the thickness and consistency of the fiberglass and resin mix. Too much of either component weakens the final part; too thick an application adds unnecessary weight, too thin an application makes parts that are too flexible. We also pay particular attention to the "roll-out" -the step where the wet fiberglass/resin mixture is smoothed and air bubbles are worked out. The result is a part that will last longer, fit better, and look smoother.

Corners and other areas of stress are further strengthened with hand-laid sheets of woven fiberglass, added while the resin is still wet. Reinforcement blocks of marine grade plywood and metal plates are also embedded in the fiberglass lamination, to provide attachment points for hardware, brackets, and other bolted-on parts.

Openings for windows and doors are cut from the fiberglass shell using Raider's Hydronautic cutting equipment - a high-pressure jet of water that makes remarkably smooth, precise cuts. Into these openings, Raider technicians fit advanced windows and doors of various designs. All hardware is chosen to provide reliable service, and great looks while remaining lightweight and resilient.

A roof rack makes a great addition to a Raider truck cap. If there is any chance you will want to use the added cargo capacity a roof rack provides, make sure you include the rack option when you place your order, so it can be installed by the factory. Raider adds backing material and strengtheners in the fiberglass lamination process to provide strong, secure attachment points in the cap. This important step can't be included after manufacture, and racks added after manufacture void the Raider warranty.

Raider uses the Yakima Rack system, which gives you a base that will accept an array of add-on brackets, holders, extensions and accessories, to carry everything from Kayaks to skis. The Yakima Rack system is available in a track mount or fixed mount option and is rated for 225 lbs of cargo evenly distributed.

Most Raider truck cap molds include design lines that indicate where windows will be installed, however, it is possible to order a cap without side windows. This approach is popular with purchasers who will use the side of their cap to advertise their business, or who will carry sensitive cargo they want to keep out of sight. Front and rear windows are required, however, for safety.

Check with your Raider dealer for specific advice on whether the truck cap you want works well without windows.

Raider truck caps provide several options for windows and screens,to provide light and ventilation. Check the specifications of each cap model, and review the window and screen options offered with each one.

Your Raider truck top includes a finish coat of factory-applied high-gloss paint in the OEM color of your choice. Raider maintains a state-of-the art automotive paint facility, and applies all standard colors used on trucks built and sold in North America. We use OEM-quality Dupont Refinishes paints, and offer customers the most sophisticated color-matching technology, the "VINdicator System", that identifies the variants and subtle color difference that ran in the plant on the actual day your truck was produced.

While no manufacturer of aftermarket automotive parts can guarantee exact match of factory paint color (there are far too many variables in the way the paint is applied and the conditions that affect it), The Raider VINdicator system identifies up to eleven different variants of the factory color code, and enables our paint technicians to match the formulas used in the factory.

The interior of a truck cap or tonneau is a rough surface, since it is the unfinished inside part of the molding process - the outside of the cap or tonneau is the finished, painted part. Raider provides an excellent option to "dress up" the interior, using a factory-installed carpet-style headliner. This synthetic woven material, offered in a number of colors, is virtually indestructible.

Besides improving the appearance of your Raider cap or tonneau, our headliner provides a measure of insulation to reduce temperature extremes and deaden road noise. The headliner is permanently glued to the inside of the cap or tonneau as part of the manufacturing process.
